Jessica Simpson is the new Jennifer Love Hewitt, thanks to some much, er, curvier photos performing at a recent Florida chili cook-off. The pics have prompted all kinds of internet talk about her weight — and I’m not going to pile on, even though I should step right in and say something.
If the girl wants to eat chili — if she finds the country music scene more forgiving of non-stick-figures, if she likes sharing Southern cooking with much-discussed boyfriend Tony Romo — then God bless her for not starving herself. (God bless her also for just enjoying being ridiculously gorgeous, whatever her size.) But it also begs the question, in this very specific case: When a star has made herself famous by selling her personal life, where will the public dissection stop? And if you’re a conspiracy theorist (one who reads lots of tabloids), you might even wonder if she wants us to be having this exact discussion right now…?
So you tell me, is Jessica Simpson fat?

Well, I think she looks just fine. The jeans however, are just inappropriate on SO many levels, there is no need for them to be that fugly.
With that said, its really sad that the press is having a field day with her because she put on a little weight. Incidentally, she’s still significantly smaller than the average American chick, just sayin…
I think she looks just fine. Her singing? Not so much, but I like that dingbat.
I think we should celebrate our bodies – I dont plan on dieting, I eat what I want, and make sure to get in all the food groups. Im not hard on myself, and love myself and am 200% happy. Isnt that all that matters?
Alisha,
The girl is super gorgeous, cashed-up, seems to be in a great relationship, and has some talent. Seems like being a few pounds overweight isn’t such a big deal.
I agree with you about happiness – I believe the happier a person is the more they contribute to their relationships and to society.
Also, totally love that *eating smart* is your way of “dieting”.
