I am also an employee of this horrid nightmare of a company in the fitness industry. I have worked in the fitness industry for 5 years the other company I have worked for has been 24 hour fitness in NYC all of they’re memberships are. Onto to month and it is a way nicer facility with more cardio equipment..hardly a wait..and way better customer service. They lack on locations but hey how many gyms can you use at once anyway. I personally would travel farther to a gym that I know I am going to want to work out at. I am a membership consultant and I am quitting today I can’t lie to people anymore like I have been encouraged to do I can’t work 12 hour shifts twice a month with no overtime and mostly I am tired of selling a gym that I wouldn’t even want to work out in. Whos I des was it to put carpets in a locker room? They. Ever get cleaned and they smell awful. Locker rooms in gyms are already bad enough but they want to add mildew as well. Trash pure trash.

You are obnoxious. You held up everyone’s class until 7:00 all because you weren’t supposed to be put into the 7:30 class and then whined and cried because you weren’t able to bully the instructor into letting you have your way? Were you drunk? Yes, the instructor probably should have asked both you and the girl next to you to leave, but that doesn’t make your bad behavior any less wrong. Get over yourself.

I feel really bad for what happened to you. I see all these complaints here…has anyone ever thought of contacting the news? How about “7 on your side, or “shame on you”. We are not getting the services that we are paying for and I guess now the only way to get heard is threw the news.

I work @ this horrible company as a membership consultant and agree with this story to a T . This is not an isolated situation . Believe me . I am treated like a slave on a daily basis . I am encouraged to lie to and harrass potential members to join . I also am paid nothing unless people join. And on top of that have to work 12 hour days and not get any overtime . For what’s called “price close out ” is this legal ? They don’t give a shit about there employees they work you into the ground and underpay us. Forget about caring for there members . All they care about is what you can do for them. I am hoping @ some point a civil action case is brought against them and they go bankrupt. I am currently looking for another job and would love to get fired . Your story upove has happened so many times I can’t even count.

Hi to everyone who has had the unlucky experience of joining nysc. I have been a amember for the past two years at the at new york sports club at 1601 bronxdale ave in the Bronx. I joined the the club when it first opened two years ago and I loved it at first but have watched it deteriorate due to poor management. Iam not going to blame the manager for the filth thats abound, nor am I going to blame him for the machines that are broke down for long periots at a time. But I will blame the corparation that hired him for the problems that all of us are experiencing at new york sports club. I learned a long time ago that if want to run a successful business you have to hire good people, well that idea wasen’t applied at this club nor was it applied at clubs north of the Bronx. The cancer that is eating away at this club and other clubs has another fault or root inbedded in member services. If you ever have the misfortune of calling member services don’t expect a return call telling you your problem has been addressed. I have been trying to figure out why they even get payed ,because they do nothing to satisfy member complaints . I decided to terminate my membership dated 2/18/11 because all attemps bi letter and phone have not had a responce or been addressed…Iam glad to see that others see the problem within this club, maybe one day they will take the horse blinders made of dollar bills off there face and correct the problems at nysc.

so, to make a long story short, i found my grossly over-qualified butt looking for part-time work in the nyc area to hold me over until my real-world job starts this summer. after two months of being told how over-qualified (and therefore unemployable) i was, i was desperate, and took a job working at the front desk of a NYSC location.

to start with, the job pays minimum wage. but hey, minimum wage is better than no wage, right?

the gym? kinda dirty, yeah. but a lot of it does come down to members not picking up after themselves.

the front desk? well, there’s a reason that we’re clueless. it is very clear company policy that the front desk staff simply exists to scan your membership card and sign you up for classes. that’s it. we can only work off of the information we’re given, so if our form says there’s no sign up for a class, that’s the end of it. we don’t know membership rates. and you know what? stop calling to ask us if so-and-so is teaching a class. the class instructors set their own schedule, and are not obligated to inform the gym if they obtain a substitution. as for the steam room, take it up with the member who keeps calling the DOH and getting it shut down, because the male members (pun intended) can’t keep from… well… making sure that they get that extra relaxation in the morning.

so i think NYSC as a whole is crappy because the staff gets paid poorly and has no training or information to work with, management is never to be found (i can’t even tell you the number of times that i’ve been the highest authority in the building – as the front desk girl!), and this in turn makes for crabby members.

as for me, i’m counting down the months until i can quit.
